THE WORLD'S FIRST INTERACTIVE BOOTLEG!
NOT FOR YOU is a Macintosh CD-ROM that contains Pearl Jam lyrics, setlists, photos, audio cuts and videos from 1991 to 1996. Nothing on this disk is commercially available. It's outakes, bootlegs, demos and rare television appearances that are unavailable anywhere else.
I had been aquiring a variety of bootleg Pearl Jam material I wanted to share with friends. I am a professional multimedia designer and in my spare time I built the CDrom. This CDrom was begun in December of 1995 and finished in June 1996.
Along the way I studied dozens of CDroms done by and for various bands and realized that most of them failed to really give the fans any value for their money. Many were just a quicktime movie of the bands current MTV video, nothing rare or obscure.
I had all this great PJ material and wanted to put it together in an attractive package. What better format than a CD to combine different media [photos, text, video, audio]. I realized this was the digital equivelant of Metallica's "Live Shit: Bing and Purge" box set; a collection of fan bootlegs.
When I was finished I sent it to Pearl Jam's managment and was politely told the band is not interested in presenting their music in the CDrom format.
I can't say I am not surprised since, as I said before, a lot of multimedia music CDs are quite bad. BUT THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT... It's been seen by many hardcore PJ fans and they all agree it's pretty damn cool.
In 1997 I updated the disk with No Code material , this new disk is even better than the previous, it includes more material and better quality images.
THE GOOD NEWS:

THE BAD NEWS FOR WINDOWS USERS:
I will not have a Windows version available anytime soon. I just do not have the time/money/hardware to port the disk anytime soon. Please don't write to tell me that sucks, I am sorry. I understand that most computer users are on Windows, but most graphic designers work on Macs. You may have access to a Mac and not know it: School? Work? Friend?
