HVAR

Next stop after a few days in Bol is Hvar, the next island over. Since the transport is limited I negotiate a one way fare (in broken hrvatski) on a small excursion boat. It turns out to be a good deal.

I end up talking to the captain (again in broken hrvatski) and after a while he gets up and tells me to take the helm. He points at a point across the water and walks out. Slowly the other passengers come forward to see who is driving the boat while the captain collects money.

The town of Hvar (on the island of Hvar) is at the base of a small mountain atop which sits a large fortress.

This is the view about halfway up to the fortress. Note the cruse ship anchored in the harbor. That boat followed me throughout several different islands.

It's well worth the climb up to the fortress for this view of the harbor.
