Three things you can't bring into a polling station:

How you vote in Bosnia (September 1997):

Step 1:
The voter jogs to the polling station and extinguishes his/her cigarette, then has there fingers scanned by a UV lamp to detect if the person has already voted.

Step 2:
The voter shows an ID and their name is found in the Final Voter Registration book (FVR). If they have a registration reciept it is turned over to the polling station.

Step 3:
The voter's finger is sprayed with invisible ultraviolet ink.

They are issued a ballot and instructed to:

  • Make one mark only
  • Mark with an "X"
  • Fold the ballot in half when finished
  • Deposit folded ballot into ballot box.

Step 4:
Voter enters shielded voting booth (it's actually a big cardboard box on a table) . After casting thier vote they deposit the ballot and leave the polling station.

A man casts his ballot.
